The Passion of Jesus...According to Mel
"The Passion of the Christ" is Mel Gibson's production of the last hours of Jesus Christ. This is probably one of the best Jesus movies made, essentially because of the way the realism (which probably STILL don't come close to the real suffering) portrays the intense pain that Jesus went through for mankind. Although this movie doesn't focus much on the actual life of Jesus, we are met with flashbacks from his youth to his adulthood. Now, this movie is not meant to be about Jesus life or teachings, that's why it's called "The Passion of the Christ." For a Christian who already believes in Jesus, this movie does a great job, I think, in making you appreciate and really begin to understand what Jesus went through in his final hours. The imagery of Satan in the world was great, and again, the flashbacks really add and emphasize the "human" Jesus. That is probably the biggest aspect of Jesus' life this film focuses on; we see Jesus as a sufferer, a martyr, a fully human person just like us. But also we are met with the monumental idea that Jesus died for us; to give us a new chance with God...great film.
